Netflix has just released the official trailer for its new animated series "Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac", a different version from the manga created by Masami Kurumada, which will premiere on July 19.
The story follows five young warriors, known as knights, who are tasked with protecting the reincarnation of the Greek goddess Athena. They have armor inspired by the constellations of the zodiac.
Details about this new series had been kept secret; however, it has been revealed that the first season of "Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac" will have 12 episodes of 30 minutes in length.
This new trailer shows something never seen before in the TV series that aired between 1986 and 1989: the use of war weaponry against the characters. However, fans of Seiya, Hyoga, Shiryu, and the other knights know that they can face any threat.
The voice cast for the Spanish version of "Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac" includes Darío Bernal (Seiya), Ricardo Mendoza (Shiryu), Alfonso Herrera (Hyoga), Marcos Patiño (Ikki), María Fernanda Morales (Saori), Maru Guerra (Marin), and Isabel Martiñon (Shun).
With "Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac", Netflix aims to establish a presence in the Japanese animation market, as it previously released "B: The Beginning" and the acclaimed "Devilman: Crybaby" in 2018.
The new version of "Knights of the Zodiac" is not the only project related to Saint Seiya, as Japan has also released the female spin-off Saints Sho and a live-action film directed by Tomasz Bagiński is currently in development.
