Note: 12 Athletes Will Compete for a Spot in Barranquilla 2018

After finishing the Nationals, 12 athletes were defined who will seek the qualification for Barranquilla 2018, where the return of Uriel Adriano, Paulina Armería and Anel Félix stands out.

"The Nationals were very demanding since the athletes knew that they were playing for a spot in the Central American Games. In the first quarter, they will be seeking the spots for that event, and from there we will start with the goal of winning more than 10 gold medals," said national coach Alfonso Victoria.

The athletes who have already secured their spot are: Brenda Costa Rica (-46 kg), Linda Torres (-63 kg), Paulina Armería (-57 kg), Anel Félix (-62 kg), Victoria Heredia (-67 kg), Fabiola Vidriesca (-73 kg), Briseida Acosta (+73 kg), Iker Casas (-63 kg), René Lizárraga (-74 kg), Uriel Adriano (-80 kg), Bryan Salazar (-87 kg) and Carlos Sansores (+87 kg).

There are still four categories to define and another evaluation will be conducted. In the under 49 kilos category, Daniela Souza won the Nationals, but in case Itzel Manjarrez is already fully recovered, the athletes will be evaluated to determine the name.

Meanwhile, in the under 54 kilos category for men, Jorge Hernández, winner of the Nationals, will be evaluated against the seeded César Rodríguez, while Brandon Plaza, in the under 58 kilos category, will compete against Carlos Navarro, and Ruben Nava will do the same with Saúl Gutiérrez.

In addition, a special modification will be made if María Espinoza decides to return to competition in the Central American Games, and she would take Vidriesca's place.

"María would participate directly based on her international results, and that's why she has the privilege of going without being evaluated," explained the head coach.

It is expected that the qualification for the Central American Games will take place in Mexico, but that will depend on the support of Conade to carry it out.
