The sisters Flavia and Kiara Montes will be the new members of the national volleyball team and will participate in the upcoming South American Championship to be held in Cajamarca, from August 28th to September 1st at the Qhapaq Ñan Coliseum.
This was announced by the women's national coach, Francisco Hervás, who officially released the list of the 14 national players who will represent Peru in the mentioned tournament.
Flavia and Kiara Montes are two players who were part of the team that competed in the last Under 20 World Championship in Mexico. Both showed great maturity and talent.
The athletes who will be part of the Peruvian team in the Cajamarca South American Championship are as follows:
Daniela Uribe, Maricarmen Guerrero, Flavia Montes, Diana De La Peña, Clarivett Yllescas, Kiara Montes, Ángela Leyva, Karla Ortiz, Leslie Leyva, Maguilaura Frías, Vanessa Palacios, Esmeralda Sánchez, Miryec Muñoz and Zoila La Rosa.
It is worth remembering that Peru is located in Group B, along with Colombia, Uruguay, and Bolivia. On the other hand, Group A will be composed of Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, and Ecuador.
The Peruvian team has won the South American title 12 times, while Brazil has done so 20 times. The rest of the teams in the region have never been crowned in the history of the previous 32 editions.
