An unpleasant farewell. The Peruvian National Volleyball Team lost in 4 sets to Cuba and closed their participation in the XVII Pan American Cup held in the Dominican Republic. The national team finished in eighth place.
The national team, led by Carlos Aparicio, faced a superior Cuban squad from start to finish. With partial scores of 23-25, 40-38, 11-25, and 22-25, the team closed their final match.
The top scorers in this match for the national team were Brenda Lobatón, Karla Ortiz, and Kiara Monetes, who scored 23, 18, and 10 points respectively.
Now, the Peruvian National Volleyball Team will return to Lima, where some players will join the U23 team to continue training for the Pan American Cup in that category.
It is worth mentioning that the Pan American Cup grants 5 spots for the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima. So far, the qualified teams for this sports event are Brazil, Canada, the United States, and the Dominican Republic. The last spot will be determined by the winner between Colombia and Puerto Rico.
