The Peruvian senior volleyball team suffered its second consecutive defeat in Group 2 of the World Grand Prix. Canada won against the Peruvian team 3 sets to 1 in a match that we started winning.
The national girls, who are coached by Luizomar de Moura, won the first set 25-20. It seems that this woke up the Canadian players, since they won convincingly the next three sets.
The Peruvian team will play its last match of the third stop of Group 2 of the Grand Prix this Sunday against the German team (4:40 p.m.).
PREVIEW
The Peruvian team faces Canada this afternoon for the second match of the third stop of the World Grand Prix. Luizomar de Moura's team lost 3-1 against Czech Republic and is currently in seventh place in Group 2.
The match against Canada will serve as a rematch of what happened in the last Pan American Cup 2017. Canada won against us 3-2 in an exciting duel.
"It was a very strange game for us. There were many moments where we were ahead in the game, but our serve was not there for us. Their serve affected us tonight. It is very difficult to play against European teams because of their height. Regardless, we need to overcome these challenges and keep working on our reception," said Mirtha Uribe after the defeat against the Czechs.
The Brazilian coach, on the other hand, said that the team's poor reception cost them the game. "We had two good first sets. We were with them all the time. Then we lost focus and our reception wasn't the best. That definitely cost us the game."
