Toxicology report on Yordano Ventura's fatal car accident will not be made public

Tessie Sanchez, spokesperson for the Attorney General's office in the Caribbean country, stated on Thursday that the report is not a public document, as reported by The Kansas City Star newspaper. The findings will only be released to Ventura's family and lawyers.

Ventura was 25 years old when he died on January 22 in a road accident near the town of Juan Adrian, about 70 kilometers (40 miles) northwest of Santo Domingo. The right-handed pitcher played his entire career in the majors for the Kansas City Royals, with a record of 38-31 and an ERA of 3.89.

Results from the toxicology examination are crucial in determining whether the Royals are obligated to pay the remaining amount of Ventura's $20.5 million contract. Initially, club officials were informed that the analysis would be completed in about three weeks.

Last month, Fox Sports reported that Ventura's contract with the Royals included a clause that could nullify payments in the event of injuries or death caused by driving under the influence. If the Royals have to pay the rest of the contract, insurance would cover part of the sum.
