Despite the dominance of the 'neroazurri', Lazio was able to impose their conditions and secure a spot in the semifinals of the Italian Cup.

A roman derby is looming for the semi-finals of the Italian Cup, after Lazio defeated Inter Milan 2-1 on Tuesday.

Unless a major surprise occurs, Lazio could face Roma in home and away matches for a spot in the final. On Wednesday, Roma hosts Cesena from the second division.

Brazilian Felipe Anderson put Lazio ahead with a header in the 20th minute and Argentine Lucas Biglia increased the lead to 2-0 in the 56th minute by converting a penalty kick.

The penalty play led to the expulsion of Miranda, Brazilian defender of Inter. Lazio also ended with 10 men after the expulsion of Stefan Radu, 14 minutes before the end, due to a second yellow card.

Marcelo Brozovic reduced the deficit for Inter, adding excitement to the last six minutes.

Inter, who scored a big win against Lazio last month in Serie A, dominated in the early stages and came close to scoring with a shot by Geoffrey Kondogbia that hit the right post.

But Lazio took the lead when Anderson headed in Senad Lulic's cross. The visitors created several chances to extend the lead and succeeded when Miranda brought down Ciro Immobile in the area and received a straight red card. Biglia took the penalty kick and placed the ball into the top left corner.

Despite being a man down, Inter played better and scored in the 84th minute with Brozovic's goal after being set up by a flicked ball from Ivan Perisic.
