Currently, the work environment has led us to spend more than 8 or 10 hours a day in front of a computer, without much physical activity and hardly maintaining a healthy lifestyle for our body.

This can lead to weight gain, which can be uncomfortable. As part of the 'Live Your Health' campaign, during a forum organized by Grupo Milenio, Dr. Eduardo Mejía Muñoz, a specialist in sports medicine, explained how some simple exercises can help us have a healthier workday.

"First and foremost, you need to have three important factors to improve your quality of life (at work). First, move more and avoid sedentary behaviors. Do not sit for more than an hour. Take the stairs, do stretching exercises at your work area. This helps to release tension in the neck, shoulders, back, and hands," he told La Afición.

Food is always the best complement to have a better quality of life, especially when spending long working days in an office. Regarding this, the doctor advised: "Usually, it is recommended to have five meals a day, including fruits, vegetables, grains, animal products, and dairy to maintain a healthy balance."

To achieve better results, it is important to balance the aforementioned goals with other three points that Eduardo Mejía emphasized.

"There are three important points: increase the number of steps, increase activity on a routine or periodic basis (every hour), and finally, exercise itself. Regardless of the previously mentioned activities, it is recommended to exercise three times a week," he emphasized.
