The Oakland Raiders team begins the relocation process to Las Vegas
The Raiders team from Oakland has started its relocation process, after submitting the required documentation to the National Football League (NFL), with the aim of moving to the city of Las Vegas.
"The Raiders of Oakland have submitted an application to relocate their franchise to Las Vegas, as required under the NFL's Procedures for Franchise Relocation Proposals policy," said a league statement.
Following the move of the San Diego Chargers to Los Angeles last week, the Raiders could become the latest NFL team to move its franchise from one city to another.
The "bad guys" would be prepared to leave Oakland in favor of Las Vegas, after a second period of 26 years in the Bay Area city of San Francisco.
Mark Davis, the franchise owner, announced to the league last October his intentions to move the team to Las Vegas in search of a more lucrative market in economic terms for the institution.
Recently, Davis and the city of Oakland have not reached concrete negotiations to ensure the team's stay in the city, nor the construction of a new stadium, which is why the "casino capital" is a priority place for the magnate's team.
In March, at least 24 out of the 32 team owners in the league must vote in favor of the move for the relocation process to be officially approved.
If they vote in favor of the change of location, the Raiders will spend two more seasons in Oakland before moving to their new stadium in the "sin city" in 2020.
