Jefferson Duque returns to Colombian soccer with Deportivo Cali

After a year of ups and downs with Atlas, Colombian forward Jefferson Duque will return to his country's soccer, but this time he will defend the colors of Deportivo Cali, a team with which he will be on loan for a year.

Although this possibility had been speculated for days, it was not until Saturday that the Rojinegros of Atlas officially confirmed Duque's move to the Colombian team.

Jefferson Duque joined the ranks of the Zorros in Clausura 2016, a tournament in which he scored five goals despite arriving in the league halfway through the semester. Later, in Apertura, Duque did not score any goals, and some off-field situations also encouraged him to return to his country.

In Colombia, Duque is highly recognized as a goalscorer, as he became the top scorer of the Colombian league just before joining Atlas when he was still defending the colors of Atlético Nacional.

Now, without Duque, the responsibility in the Rojinegros' attack will fall on two new men in the institution, Matías Alustiza and Fidel Martínez, who along with youth product Martín Barragán will lead the offensive of the team for the next tournament.
