Charros de Jalisco Dream Big with Sergio Romo and Roberto Osuna
With Sergio Romo and Roberto Osuna in their bullpen, Charros de Jalisco once again dream big in the 2016-2017 season of the Mexican Pacific League. Romo's debut with the team was so impressive that the white and blue management aims to win the championship.
The three-time World Series champion pitcher took the mound for Jalisco in the eighth inning of the second game of the series against Mexicali. It was a tough challenge as he inherited bases loaded with no outs, but he managed to get out of the situation and made it look easy. For this reason, Armando Navarro applauds his arrival more than ever.
"It's clear as day when you have a major leaguer on the mound, the level is evident. Romo came in with the bases loaded, struck out one, got a double play in the second, and struck out again in the third. Those who watched the game will agree that the batters were far from hitting the ball, Romo has an impressive slider, I perfectly understand why he has three World Series rings."
"Osuna will arrive on Saturday, we will have two major leaguers in the short relief positions. Charros is going to become very strong and we will strive to make a comeback, make it to the playoffs, and go all-in for the championship. We have a great team, highly motivated, we just need to get on a roll, we are one or two games away from reaching the top spots," he shared.
Good news has been frequent for Charros in recent weeks, as they were able to secure two heavyweight major leaguers after not being able to sign pitchers like Orlando Lara or Juan Salvador Delgadillo. While Osuna is currently in better form than Romo, for Armando Navarro, many people have not fully grasped the significance of the arrival of a former star pitcher from the San Francisco Giants.
"Unfortunately, the signings of these two players happened when the team was not in a very good moment. They happened very quickly and we couldn't announce them as they should have been, however, we will present them to everyone on Tuesday. In the case of Romo, I feel like the importance of a major leaguer of his caliber hasn't been recognized enough."
Regarding the possibility of seeing Romo and Osuna in the same game, the coach of the Jalisco team assured that the show will not be lacking thanks to their pitching staff, as there are great chances that both pitchers will take the mound in the same game.
"It won't be difficult to see Romo and Osuna in the same game. We have Sergio as a setup man and the 'Cañoncito' as a closer, so it's normal to see them putting on a spectacle with Jalisco."
As a free agent, Sergio Romo has more freedom to pitch for Jalisco, while Osuna arrived in "The Pearl of the West" with some limitations imposed by the Toronto Blue Jays, his team in the major leagues.
The Fact:
Romo secured his first save and Osuna could appear this weekend.
