Juventus, Serie A leader, fell 3-1 on the field of Genoa (9th) with a brace from Argentine Giovanni Simeone, in the 14th round, which tightened the top of the table after the victories of Milan (2nd), Lazio (3rd) and Atalanta (4th).
The men of Massimiliano Allegri saw a halt to a streak of five consecutive victories and now lead the standings with a four-point margin over Milan.
The Piedmontese team, which suffered its third defeat of the season in Serie A, with all three away from home (the previous two at San Siro against Milan and Inter), conceded the three goals in the first half hour of the match.
'Gio' Simeone
, son of Diego Pablo, coach of Atletico Madrid, scored the first two goals for the home team, and Brazilian Alex Sandro scored an own goal to make it 3-0.
The former River Plate striker took advantage of a rebound in the small area to open the scoring (3), and scored the second by beating Gianluigi Buffon with a diving header (13).
His father, 'Cholo', had already scored a goal against Juventus 16 years ago, when he played for Lazio. And, more statistical data, Juve had not conceded three goals before half-time since October 2005, in a match against Milan that also ended 3-1.
To seal the disaster, Sandro cleared a ball on the goal line and put it into his own net (29).
In the second half, Bosnian Miralem Pjanic made the result more respectable for Juventus with a superb free-kick (82).
In addition to the defeat, coach Massimiliano Allegri suffered injuries to Leonardo Bonucci and Brazilian Dani Alves, who had to leave the field before the end of the match. These possible losses will add to those of Argentine Paulo Dybala, Giorgio Chiellini, and Andrea Barzagli. Argentinian Gonzalo Higuain only played for 40 minutes.
