Werder Bremen earns valuable point with 2-2 draw against Hamburgo
The 'lagarto' team started on the wrong foot. Just 3 minutes into the match, Hamburgo took the lead with a header from Gregoritsch. However, that advantage didn't last long. Fin Bartels equalized the game (14') with a wonderful individual play.
The match was evenly balanced in terms of play. But, Gregoritsch (28') had to appear again to give the lead to the 'Dinosaurs'. Towards the end of the first half, the young German talent Serge Gnabry equalized the score with a strong cross-shot.
In the second half, both teams slowed down. Alexander Nouri, coach of Werder Bremen, decided to give Claudio Pizarro some time (69') to help his teammates. His only clear opportunity was a header that ended up in the hands of the Hamburgo goalkeeper.
In the current 2016-2017 season, Claudio Pizarro has accumulated 124 minutes with Werder Bremen. He started in only one match, but stayed on the field until the 83rd minute. It was against Eintracht Frankfurt. In the remaining games, he had to come off the bench.
