Complete Party for Chivas in the Apertura 2016 Playoffs
In Verde Valle there will be a complete party in this Apertura 2016 playoffs, as not only the first team of Chivas will seek to crown the season with a title, but also their under-17 and under-20 categories will do the same.
At the end of the regular season, the under-17 category ranked seventh in the overall standings, below Tijuana, Pachuca, Atlas, Monterrey, America and Tiburones Rojos from Veracruz.
The Guadalajara team has entered the "big party" by accumulating 27 points, which resulted from the eight victories, three draws and six losses they registered throughout the 17 rounds that the tournament lasts.
In this way, the team led by Rodolfo Jáuregui will face Pachuca in the quarterfinals. It will not be an easy task for the team from Hidalgo, as they closed the tournament as runners-up with 39 points.
Something that will play in favor of Chivas in this series, is that Chivas along with Xolos de Tijuana were the only teams capable of defeating Pachuca. In addition, Guadalajara has José Juan Macías, who became the division champion by scoring 13 goals.
On the other hand, Chivas' under-20 team qualified in eighth place after accumulating 28 points. Nine victories, one draw and seven losses were enough for Guadalajara to finish one point above America and take away the last place in the "big party".
Now, Manuel Martínez's players will have to beat the top-seeded Santos if they want to advance in the search for the title. Although it will be a tough opponent, Chivas has already made the Warriors stumble during the tournament, as evidenced by the fifth round of the competition, when the team from Guadalajara defeated the ones from Laguna region by two to one as visitors.
Unlike what happens in the under-17 category, where the top scorer of the tournament plays for Chivas, it will be Santos who will have Ronaldo Cisneros, the division's top scorer, in the quarterfinals of the under-20 category.
