Mexico seeks victory to stay alive in U20 Women's World Cup
In the early hours of this Monday, Mexico will have its third match in the U20 Women's World Cup taking place in Papua New Guinea, which they must win if they want to stay alive in the competition.
In the first round, Mexico defeated Korea 2-0, while in the second round they lost 3-0 against Germany, placing the team in third place in Group D with 3 points and a goal difference of -1, behind Germany and Korea who occupy the first and second place, respectively.
On the other hand, the opponent in this match is Venezuela, whom Mexico has never faced in this category. Venezuela is practically eliminated, sitting in fourth position with zero points, so on paper Mexico has strong aspirations to qualify for the next round.
If they win, Roberto Medina's team will have to hope for Korea's defeat against Germany or they will have to win by a large margin. The match will start at 3:00 am (Mexico time).
