Chargers defeat Broncos 21-13 in Week 6 of the NFL
With a great defensive performance and four field goals from Josh Lambo, the San Diego Chargers handed the Denver Broncos their second loss of the season in the beginning of Week 6 of the NFL.
Philip Rivers made history for the Chargers by surpassing Dan Fouts as the team's quarterback with the most passing yards in history, reaching 43,093.
The Denver Broncos' offense did not perform as well as in previous games, despite the return of their starting quarterback Trevor Siemian, who completed 30 of 50 attempts for a total of 230 yards with one touchdown pass and no interceptions.
San Diego started the game strong and their first offensive series ended with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Philip Rivers to tight end Hunter Henry.
In the second quarter, Josh Lambo made his first field goal from 37 yards. Brandon McManus did the same to put the first points on the board for Denver with a successful 29-yard attempt.
In the third quarter, Lambo made three more field goals from 21, 31, and 32 yards respectively, extending the lead to 19-3.
A holding penalty on offensive tackle Russell Okung in his own end zone resulted in a safety against Denver, increasing the lead to 21-3.
Denver got back in the game in the fourth quarter, making the score 21-10 with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Siemian to Bennie Fowler. However, on the next offensive series, the San Diego defense sealed the game by forcing a fumble from Demaryius Thomas.
With this result, the Chargers improved their record to 2-4, while Denver suffered their second consecutive loss and now have a record of 4-2.
