Leon defeats the last undefeated team of the 2016 Apertura

Leon defeated the only remaining undefeated team of this Apertura 2016, taking a 3-2 victory against Tigres.

The goals for Leon were scored by Elias Hernandez in the 33rd minute, Argentine Mauro Boselli in the 40th minute, and Luis Montes in the 44th minute.

For Tigres, who lost their unbeaten record in the Mexican tournament, Argentine Lucas Zelarayan scored in the 21st minute and Aldo Paul Rocha scored an own goal in the 90th minute.

With this result, La Fiera reached 15 points to climb to 11th place in the standings, while Tigres remained with 23 points in second place.

A highly intense match from both teams, although Leon proved to be more accurate in their attacks, while Tigres was more cautious in their attempts upfront.

However, it was Tigres who scored first in the 21st minute through Argentine Zelarayan, which immediately prompted the Guanajuatenses to seek the equalizer.

Leon took advantage of the last 15 minutes of the first half to equalize and turn the scoreline to 3-1, surprising the felinos with such a local reaction.

Frenchman André Pierre Gignac had a chance to make it 3-2 in stoppage time of the first half, but missed a penalty that could have changed the game once again.

In the second half, Tigres tried to close the gap but only managed to create harmless chances in the 61st and 68th minutes. In the final minute, they scored the 3-2 goal through a Rocha own goal.

The referee, Oscar Macias, with an acceptable performance, cautioned Guillermo Burdisso for Leon, and Victor Sosa and Nahuel Guzman for Tigres.
