The Favorite Black Horse Wins Again

The beloved black horse from Cuadra Arenas claimed its second classic millionaire, this time, under the skillful reins of Alejandro Gómez. Consecutively, it had the biggest purse in the history of the capital racetrack; almost six million pesos were gathered to distribute among the winners.

Within the framework of the Criadores Cup, a group of ten two-year-old thoroughbreds presented themselves for their commitment on the oval of Las Américas, one of the most anticipated races for enthusiasts of this breed in the Mexican Republic as it features horses from all over the country.

The chestnut horse from Cuadra El Delirio, AG Navigating Streak, entered the arena as the favorite after achieving the best time in the marathon eliminations. Out of more than 160 registered horses, no one surpassed the chestnut's time of 17.302 seconds in the 350-yard distance (320.04 meters). Valentino Mystery managed to qualify for the grand final on the last day.

Under a fine drizzle in La Lomita, the start was ordered for the 12th race on the schedule. Charly Cartel from Cuadra Días de León immediately took the lead, followed by Sea Chico from Rancho San Antonio AJH hugging the inner rail with the experienced Rodrigo Vallejo, who was brought exclusively from the United States for this race where he led for a moment. From behind, Valentino Mystery emerged to win by a length over Soliat, who was closely following him.

Charly Cartel finished third with a strong closing run, and Sea Chico settled for fourth place. The winning horse, a son of Mr Queens Mystery (Shazoom) out of Valentina High by Brimmerton, bred by its owner Alejandro Arenas, completed the 350-yard distance in 17.21 seconds, improving upon the best time from the elimination rounds.

Tonight, the black gelding, trained by Jacobo Domínguez Téllez, achieved its fifth victory out of six appearances at Las Américas, adding its second classic to its collection. Previously, it won the Garland Futurity on July 17th, which also offers a significant purse in the Quarter Horse calendar.

Also participating in the race were AG Navigating Streak from Cuadra El Delirio, Tagmehorse and Enganada By Rabbits from San Lázaro de ARARA, AG Navigating La Jolla from Cuadra Falcón, SF Assault Be Champ from Cuadra El Renacimiento, and Senor Mario from Cuadra Arroyo Hondo. The next Futurity for Mexican two-year-olds will be the Criadores Mexicanos, taking place on December 18th.
