MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Some of the top talent in Alabama went head-to-head today in the North VS South All-Star game at Hancock Whitney Stadium.

Friends, family, fans, and head coaches from across the state flocked to Mobile to see their favorite senior players suit up one final time in their school colors.

Today wasn’t just an all-star game, it was a rivalry game, one that kept those of us watching on the edge of their seats.

The North team came out hot and despite the South team making some big plays, they couldn’t capitalize, and the North scored 24 unanswered points.

The South got on the board late in the first half and head coach Kenny King went into the locker room at half time and made some changes.

To start out the second half, it was all South. They started to move the chains thanks to some of our local superstars like Citronelle’s Elijah Owens and Saraland running back Santae Mcwilliams.

The South scored back-to-back touchdowns and tied things up with a 30-yard field goal from Baker kicker Blayne Munson.

In the end, it was the late turnovers that sealed their fate, back-to-back to back, and the North made the most of it every single time.

The North came out on top in this one 45-24. Toros wide receiver Nemo Hixon and Mary G. Montgomery offensive lineman Jon Stephens says it wasn’t the result they wanted, but they’re grateful for their experience this week.

“It was a short week with the team, but it was fun,” says Hixon, “It felt like family when we played together. We all obviously didn’t get the result we wanted, but you know, everything happens for a reason. I’m glad I met them.”

“You learn stuff from the coaches and just from playing with the other guys.” says Stephens, “They pick up stuff along the way from camps, and their coaches, so it was just a good learning experience. Meeting new people, people that you used to play with, people that you played against, and new coaches. It was just a fun experience.”
