The young referee hurried to attend to the player upon seeing that he was having a seizure on the field.

The young referee Daniel García saved the life of a forward from a team from Jaén in a friendly match played in Villa del Río (Córdoba) last weekend. The player, after suffering a blow to the head, had a seizure and was suffocating with his tongue.

The match that Daniel García was refereeing pitted two teams from the Primera Andaluza in the Matías Prats Trophy in Villa del Río and was suspended when, in a jump, ten minutes before the end, the player from the Jaén team and a local defender collided with their heads in the air.

"I saw that the player was convulsing, with his teeth closed. I tried to open his mouth in a moment of general blockage of the people there," explained the referee to EFE.

At that moment, the referee said, he was "looking at the boy" and thought, "He's dying."

"I told myself that he couldn't go. I crouched down and tried by all means to open his mouth and pull out his tongue. I managed to put my nails between his teeth and then my fingers. I opened his mouth and fortunately two nurses had already appeared," he recounted.

The Cordoba referee stated that, "with their experience," these healthcare professionals took charge of the situation "and controlled his shock," so "fortunately everything turned out to be a scare."
