The German international Mario Gómez has signed a contract until 2019 with Wolfsburg, the club that has made possible his return to the Bundesliga and leaving behind the turbulent panorama of Turkey, where he was on loan at Besiktas in Istanbul.
He wanted to leave Turkey no matter what. Gómez, 31, presented himself on Thursday as the striker for his new club, happy to be back in Germany and after having announced weeks ago that he would not return to Turkey, due to the instability caused by the attempted coup last July.
"I wanted to return to Germany," said the player, while Wolfsburg manager Klaus Allofs declared himself "super-happy" to have him on the team.
He will play with Carlos Ascues. Mario Gómez joins the team of the Peruvian center-back who let Naldo, Andre Schürrle and recently Max Kruse leave for this season.
