Preparation for Chivas Match
Santos Laguna closed ranks in preparation to receive Chivas this Sunday in Matchday 5 of the Apertura 2016 Tournament. The team is looking for their first victory of the tournament to break their losing streak.
Midfielder Jesus Molina expressed that this is the moment where the unity of a team is reflected, and that is what is happening in Santos.
"These are the moments that demonstrate the companionship and brotherhood within the team. They are the moments that will make us grow as a group," said Molina.
He added, "I have experienced similar situations, but I believe that Santos is more united than ever, committed to overcoming this. We hope to achieve our first victory of the tournament tomorrow."
Molina mentioned that the team has been preparing intensively throughout the week, "we have been working on many details that we haven't been doing well. I think it will be beneficial for the next match."
"It is always good to have a complete squad. Unfortunately, we haven't had the opportunity to have everyone available, only (Agustín) Marchesín is in doubt."
"Tomorrow, the team must come out with great intensity, determination, and the firm intention of achieving the result at home," said Molina.
When asked about whether there is pressure within the group due to the poor results, Molina responded:
"In these 4 matches of the tournament, we haven't been able to figure out how to win. We haven't had the fortune of scoring goals, and we have had very crucial lapses of concentration."
"I believe that players need to demonstrate when they are on the field. The coach establishes an idea and a playing style, but it is us who execute it."
"The commitment and responsibility fall on the player. We are aware and committed to the fact that there is no choice but to win. We are in debt with our fans."
The good news is that key players like Néstor Araujo and Djaniny Tavares are recovering, although the latter will have to take it slow.
"It is always good to have a complete squad. Unfortunately, we haven't had the opportunity to have everyone available, only (Agustín) Marchesín is in doubt," said Molina.
"But the truth is that we are happy to have the entire group. Internal competition will grow, and tomorrow we have to show it on the field."
For now, on Saturday, the Santos team completed their preparation for the match against Chivas, mainly focusing on tactical training at the Territorio Santos Modelo facilities. The team fine-tuned the last details ahead of the Matchday 5 fixture.
The team worked extensively on organization on the field and set-piece plays, with the intention of being in the best possible condition for their next challenge on Sunday at 18:00 hours at the TSM.
