MECHANICSBURG — Mechanicsburg received its second dose of déjà vu in as many weeks on Monday. The Wildcats first rode the wave of their second straight District 3 Class 5A title to close out the month of May, but next came a gut-check all too familiar, and not for the same joyous reasons.
WPIAL runner-up Bethel Park arrived at Memorial Park to clash with Mechanicsburg, the stage set for a rematch of last year’s 8-2, 10-inning marathon that concluded in favor of the Black Hawks at the very same venue. This time, it was more of a sprint.
