Fake Everest Ascent by Indian Couple Exposed
A couple from India, Dinesh and Tarakeshwari Rathod, claimed to be the first Indian couple to conquer Mount Everest and provided photographs as proof. However, it has now been discovered that the images were doctored and they may face a ten-year ban on climbing in Nepal.
"We have recommended the Ministry of Tourism to take appropriate action against the couple," said Sudarshan Prasad Dhakal, director of the Nepali Tourism Department.
Following the request from the Department of Tourism, the Ministry has formed a three-member group to investigate the incident and submit a report with their findings by the end of the month.
Allegedly, the police couple from Pune, India, used photographs of other climbers who had successfully scaled the world's highest peak and digitally edited the images by replacing the faces.
According to their claims, they reached the summit on May 23rd, but it was a week later when they held a press conference in Kathmandu to announce their achievement.
