The Guatemalan defender traveled from Romania despite the injury to his left arm and his participation against Trinidad and Tobago and Panama is in doubt
GUATEMALA --- After a long journey from Romania, Guatemalan defender Nicolás Samayoa arrived in the country Saturday night and early Sunday morning joined the concentration of the Guatemala National Team at the CAR in Zone 15 of the capital, despite the injury suffered during his team's last match in European territory.
Through its social networks, Politehnica Iasi informed about Nicolás Samayoa's injury. "The suspicion of a fracture has been ruled out. Nicolás only has a sprained elbow and a suspected muscle injury. His arm will be immobilized for two weeks and a new MRI will be performed in 10 days."
During his arrival at La Aurora International Airport, Nicolás Samayoa was seen with a cast on his left arm to immobilize the affected area. However, during the training session of the Guatemala National Team, he was seen without the cast in order to be evaluated by the team's medical staff and determine the severity of his injury for the two matches.
"It is an honor to come to the National Team, especially when we are playing for so much in these two matches. Unfortunately, in the last match I suffered a small knock that is yet to be determined and both the team's medical staff and the National Team think that there is a small possibility of being able to play. If there was a minimal chance to play, I want to take it and that's why I'm here. I came to work," said Nicolás Samayoa upon his arrival in Guatemalan territory.
Unfortunately, Nicolás Samayoa is not the only player who is injured. In the last few hours, the call-up was made for midfielder José Mario Rosales from Xinabajul-Huehue due to Marlon Sequén's muscle injury, which left him out of the squad.
Another player under observation is José Carlos Pinto, who is working separately due to a muscle issue, and his progress will determine whether he can play against Trinidad and Tobago.
The Guatemala National Team will travel to Trinidad and Tobago on October 11th for the match on the following Friday 13th at 19:00 hours.
