Fever is a symptom that is mostly related to an injection. Mario Paredes, a pulmonologist at the EsSalud Grau Hospital, gave an interview to Agencia Andina to reveal what people should do if they have a fever.

The specialist mentioned that "not all fevers are a sign of something serious" and that the increase in body temperature is a response to various processes that can often be controlled without any problem.

"Not all fevers are due to infections. There are fevers due to neoplastic processes and inflammatory diseases, such as Lupus or arthritis. To start, you have to look for some symptoms that can indicate the origin of the fever. It could be a sore throat, stomachache, earache, or toothache. If there are no signs to guide us in the case and the fever persists or increases, it is ideal to see a doctor," he mentioned.

When is it considered a fever? Know the temperature

According to the EsSalud specialist, body temperature can be measured in the mouth and armpit. A person who registers between 37 to 37.9 degrees in the mouth is fine, but from 38 degrees onwards, it can be considered a fever.

If you take the temperature in the armpits of a person and it is higher than 37.5, then you have to consider it a fever. Paredes advises people, in the case of children or older adults, to take warm to cold baths or showers in a well-ventilated room.
