The Spanish footballer Jenni Hermoso released a statement through her representatives and a players' union, expressing her truth regarding the controversial kiss she received from the president of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales.
The union representing Spanish women footballers called for sanctioning the president of the RFEF for kissing the 33-year-old athlete, and also promised to fight against sexism and machismo. "My union FUTPRO, in coordination with my agency TMJ, is responsible for defending my interests and being the spokespersons on this matter," the statement said.
"The FUTPRO union is working so that acts like the ones we have witnessed never go unpunished, are sanctioned, and the necessary measures are adopted to protect footballers from actions that we consider unacceptable," the document reads.
SHE DID NOT CONSENT
The footballer stated that she did not consent to the kiss given by Rubiales and denied his version given at the Extraordinary General Assembly: "I want to clarify that at no time did I consent to the kiss he gave me, and in no case did I seek to raise the president. I do not tolerate my word being doubted, and much less inventing words that I have not said," Jenni Hermoso said.
Finally, the statement concludes by requesting real structural and sports changes that will allow the Spanish national team to continue growing and for its success to be transferred to future generations.
Meanwhile, the players of the national team expressed their support for Jennifer Hermoso and showed their bewilderment at the speech given by Luis Rubiales. They also condemned behaviors that undermine the integrity of women.
