The former world champion Cassius Clay, known worldwide as Mohamed Ali, has been hospitalized in Arizona due to respiratory problems.

The legendary boxer is 74 years old and has been suffering from Parkinson's disease for years, but he had never been hospitalized for this illness. The last time Ali was in a hospital was in early 2016 for a urinary tract problem.

He is in a stable condition. "Ali is being treated by his team of doctors and is in reasonable condition. A short stay in the hospital is expected," spokesperson Bob Gunnel told NBC.
