Princess Mily: A farewell to a Cumbia Legend
As we know, the cumbia singer and songwriter, Milagros Soto, better known as Princess Mily, died on May 22 due to a liver problem that worsened over time. Her death has shocked the entire country and has marked a before and after in the artistic world.
In the wake of this tragic event, many figures have spoken out lamenting the untimely departure of the singer, and one of them has been Ernesto Pimentel on his show 'El reventonazo de la Chola', which paid tribute with other artists such as Toño Centella, Ruth Karina, Alejandro Zárate, among others.
"Milagros Soto Riva marks a before and after in cumbia and in the hearts of Peruvians. Princess Mily didn't put a crown on herself, but rather she put all the women who love and enjoy our music, our chicha, our identity. Today, I want to thank her by celebrating her life and celebrating this departure, because it is what she would have wanted," stated La Chola.
Alejandro Zárate couldn't hold back the tears
On his part, Zárate, founder of Pintura Roja and the creator of the nickname for Princess Mily's stage name, couldn't hold back the emotion of remembering her and burst into tears while Ruth Karina sang one of the songs of the Peruvian chicha artist.
"All the years I spent with her come to my mind and my heart. The journey with Pintura Roja had a short time, but it was enough to fill the void up to that point. There was no woman who would get on stage and she did it. She opened the doors," Alejandro said while shedding tears.
