Pedro Pascal was named the winner in the category "best hero" on May 7th at the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards, for his portrayal of the character Joel in the series "The Last of Us".

The competition for that award category was very tough, as the nominees included Diego Luna (Andor), Jenna Ortega (Merlina), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), and Tom Cruise (Top Gun). However, the Chilean actor received the most votes from the audience.

"I want to thank MTV and the MTV Movie Awards, I was a child watching MTV, I grew up with MTV, so this means the world to me," Pascal said in a video during the awards ceremony.

He also won the "best duo" category along with his co-star Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie in HBO's acclaimed series. "Bella, if you want your golden popcorn, you have to come and get it. That way, I'll be able to see you again. I miss you, I love you. You are the duo, you are me, I am you, we are us," he exclaimed.

The 2023 MTV Awards are being presented this Sunday, in a ceremony that also highlighted the performances in several sketches and the hosting by actress Drew Barrimore.
