For many people, the end of the month is a 'real headache', as electricity bills tend to increase significantly when there is not a good use of energy. Therefore, your friends from Libero want to share an important tip with you so that you can decrease your consumption and pay less money. Take note!

How to spend less electricity when using the washing machine?

In 2018, the Ministry of Energy and Mines set a "peak hour" for the electric service. It was established that between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m, people should be more efficient with energy. This time period was chosen because, during that time, most citizens come home after work or studying and start using electrical appliances massively.

In that sense, it is advisable to use the washing machine within the midnight to 8 a.m. timeframe. This way, you would be helping your electricity bill to come with a lower cost to pay.

Furthermore, the General Directorate of Environmental Affairs pointed out that if a person qualifies as a non-peak customer, they can save approximately 10% on their monthly bill.

How much energy does a washing machine consume?

According to the Citizen Care Supervisor of Osinergmin, Óscar Chevarría, the energy consumption will depend on the type of washing machine you have (front load and top load) and whether you will wash your clothes with cold or hot water.

"The energy consumption of a top load washer is 10% higher than that of a front load washer for the same amount of clothes and washing cycle, due to the type of motor coupling," explained the specialist.
