Arturo Vidal's anger over not playing in Flamengo's match against Boavista in the sixth round of the Taça Guanabara of the Campeonato Carioca
Arturo Vidal exploded in fury when he realized he wasn't going to enter Flamengo's match against Boavista, corresponding to the sixth round of the Taça Guanabara of the Campeonato Carioca 2023.
The Chilean was caught by BandSports' camera throwing a bottle on the substitute bench after warming up for several minutes. It was in the 35th minute of the second half that coach Vítor Pereira made the last changes for Mengao.
After his annoyance, Vidal posted a message on his social media: "First of all, I want to apologize for my reaction during yesterday's match when I didn't enter the field. I must clarify that I have always liked to participate from the game since I have been doing it throughout my career, I know that sometimes my temperament gets the best of me."
"But I came to Flamengo to be happy and be part of its history, I know that my qualities are to help my teammates and continue making Mengao the greatest of all, I will continue fighting to be there and I will never give up because that's who I am. A warrior," he added.
The head coach of the Carioca team, Vítor Pereira, also commented: "The discontent of one player or another is something natural because we have to make decisions based on what we analyze and the idea we have of the players who can help the team the most at this moment. We have to put the team and the club above all personal ambitions."
