Know all the details here. In California, a city that was seriously affected by inflation, the Stimulus Check is being distributed this 2023.

Take note, as in the following information we will tell you what this benefit is about, how to claim it in the state of California, and all the details regarding it. Since 2022, the United States government has been distributing a significant amount to its citizens through the Stimulus Check, an economic benefit that allows its residents to cover some basic expenses thanks to an amount that ranges between $200 and $1,050, depending on the needs of each recipient.

Who will receive the stimulus check payment in California?

California will send a new batch of aid checks with amounts ranging from $200 to $1,050, benefiting millions of residents.

Since October, one-time payments have been issued as part of the Middle Class Tax Refund (MCTR), and these will continue until January of this year, depending on previous stimulus payments.

According to officials from the state of California, approximately $8,399,171,700 has been refunded since last week.

Requirements to apply for the Stimulus Check

The MCTR website states that eligible recipients include taxpayers who:

  • Filed their 2020 tax return before October 15, 2021
  • Meet the California Adjusted Gross Income (CA AGI) limits
  • Were not claimed as dependents in the 2020 fiscal year
  • Were residents of California for six months or more during the 2020 fiscal year
  • Are residents of California on the payment issuance date

How to receive the California Stimulus Check 2023 payment?

It is worth noting that beneficiaries will receive their payment via direct deposit or debit card.

Californians who electronically filed their 2020 tax return and received their refund via direct deposit will receive their payment in the same way.

  • The California Franchise Tax Board stated that other beneficiaries will receive payment by mail in the form of a debit card if:
  • They filed a paper return
  • They had a balance due
  • They received their Golden State Stimulus (GSS) payment by check
  • They received their 2020 tax refund by check regardless of the filing method
  • They received a payment in advance from their tax service provider or paid their tax preparer fees using their tax refund

When will I receive my Stimulus Check payment in 2023?

It should be noted that direct deposits generally occur within three to five business days from the issuance date, but may vary depending on the financial institution.

Considering this, recipients should expect to wait up to two weeks from the issuance date to receive their debit card by mail.

According to The U.S. Sun newspaper, MCTR debit card payments for Californians who received the Golden State Stimulus (GSS) I and II were sent by mail from late October to December 10, 2022.

Meanwhile, recipients of GSS I or II checks with last names starting with W to Z should have received their debit cards between December 4 and December 10.

Non-GSS recipients with last names starting with A to K received their payments starting from December 5 to December 17.

MCTR direct deposit beneficiaries who changed their banking information since filing their 2020 tax return will receive theirs between December 17, 2022, and January 14, 2023.

Finally, the remaining debit cards will be mailed out by January 14.

Can I track the delivery of my payment?

This is one of the questions that beneficiaries are most concerned about, whether there is a tool to track their check and, above all, to know when they will be able to access it. However, this option does not exist, so there is no choice but to be patient, waiting for the moment when the deposit is reflected in their accounts or the arrival of the debit cards.
