PASADENA — St. John Bosco senior tight end Matayo Uiagalelei’s 20-yard touchdown catch in the corner of the end zone early in the third quarter turned the tide and his clutch catch late in the fourth quarter sealed the Braves’ 24-22 win against No. 1-ranked Mater Dei in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 football championship game at the Rose Bowl Friday night.
However, it was Bosco’s defense that ultimately ended Mater Dei’s 29-game winning streak.
