The tournament "The Great Alternative" in its 2016 edition began with its first phase, which took place this "Tuesday of New Values" in the Cathedral Arena Mexico.

Eight novice wrestlers along with their sponsors measured their strengths to establish themselves as the winning team that will wait for the winners of the 2nd phase for the final duel that will consolidate the Rookie of the Year.

The eight teams that competed for the spot in this round were:

Triton and Místico; Súper Halcón Jr. and Máximo; Flyer and Atlantis; Oro Jr. and Valiente; Fujin and Rey Escorpión; Cuatrero and Rey Bucanero; Rocky Casas and Negro Casas; Magia Blanca and Último Guerrero.

The definitive fight was disputed by Triton and Místico who measured their aerial talent against the tricks of the ruffians Rey Escorpión and Fujin who came out to win at all costs. In the face of the speed and spectacularity of the technical aerial wrestlers, the bellicosity of the King of Soy Mayo, Sonora was complemented by the cunning of the Japanese, who deployed all his arsenal to climb the steps of this stage along with his venomous sponsor (before the decisive fight he did not hesitate to surprise Máximo with a furious kiss and defeated the experienced Atlantis with a flat back that he pulled out of his hat like a true magician).

Fujin looked just like his name suggests: a god of the wind who showed off his oriental wisdom. As if this were not enough, the violence of Rey Escorpión, who did not hesitate to eliminate all his opponents with his lethal punishment "the black sting," made a devastating combination that determined the outcome of this first elimination.
