BOSTON — Trevor Story is not in the Red Sox lineup Friday vs. the Royals here at Fenway Park. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m.
This marks Story’s third straight game not in the starting lineup. He left Sunday’s game in the seventh inning with left heel pain after he slipped on the first base bag.
Manager Alex Cora had said Wednesday that Story likely would be in the lineup Friday.
But Christian Arroyo will play second base. Triston Casas is back at first base after not starting Wednesday vs. the Yankees.
Kevin Plawecki is behind the plate catching Michael Wacha (11-1, 2.69 ERA).
Righty Jonathan Heasley (3-8, 5.51 ERA) will start for Kansas City.
