The whale, the film starring Brendan Fraser and directed by Darren Aronofsky, had a great reception at the 79th edition of the Venice Film Festival, which started on August 31 and will continue until September 10.

Brendan Fraser, who reached popularity in the 90s with productions like "George of the Jungle" and "The Mummy", suddenly disappeared from the artistic scene after the success achieved; following allegations of sexual abuse against a renowned member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
The accusations were silenced and only came to light in 2018, 15 years after the incident that would separate Fraser from the industry. Currently, thanks to The Whale, the actor would make his triumphant return to the big screen and according to critics, he could even receive a possible Oscar nomination.
Aronofsky's film, based on the work of Samuel D. Hunter and starring Fraser, revolves around the story of a professor with morbid obesity, a role for which Fraser had to gain weight.
The actor's personification and work in portraying the protagonist have earned him a six-minute standing ovation after the film's screening at the renowned Venice Film Festival. Finally, Darren Aronofsky's work once again receives the approval and acclaim of critics at the Venice Film Festival, where in previous editions he presented other films such as "The Black Swan", "Mother!" and "The Wrestler".
