The MLS and Liga MX teams had just settled on the Allianz Field pitch when the first goal of the night came in. Just 3 minutes into the first half, Carlos Vela put the American league team ahead in the so-called All-Star Game.
After leaving a defender on the left side of the attack, the Colombian Diego Palacios sent a cross to the far post. Vela, with a powerful header, beat goalkeeper Camilo Vargas and made it 1-0.
Carlos Vela, Los Angeles FC forward and scorer of seven goals in this MLS season, embraced his compatriot 'Chicharito' Hernandez to celebrate. Other members of the Adrian Heath's team joined in the celebration.
