The security officer from Ventanilla identified as Abel Bocanegra Calderón, 45 years old, died this Wednesday afternoon, July 27, after entering the sea with other colleagues to rescue a 16-year-old boy who was being pulled by the waves and was drowning at Costa Azul beach.
The municipal worker had been serving the local government for 6 years. It is also known that he leaves behind two underage children.
In response to this situation, the municipality manager, Iván Solis, stated to the media that they will take care of all funeral expenses and provide support to the family.
So far, it is known that another security officer is missing, Eduardo Chumpitaz, who is also a father.
Additionally, preliminary information indicates that the access to the sea at this beach was restricted, so the young boy would have broken the rule and the security officers had to perform their duty.
