Yu Yu Hakusho is the new anime/manga in the sights of Netflix to be adapted. This project surprised many fans worldwide of the second most popular manga by master Toshihiro Togashi. This product just celebrated its 30th anniversary, taking into account the premiere of its animated version that was broadcasted worldwide, generating fans who still consider it one of the most important anime series of the 90s.
The production of this series was approved since December 2020 and will feature a 100% Japanese team and cast. The official Twitter account of Japan has started to release the first details of this live-action adaptation, indicating that certain liberties have been taken in the costumes of the main characters. Of course, with the purpose of not looking like cosplay characters.

The synopsis of Yu Yu Hakusho on Netflix
Netflix describes the series as follows:
"The manga revolves around Yusuke Urameshi, a high school student who spends his days getting into fights and dies after saving a child. While dealing with the fact that he is seeing his body on the ground, a woman named Botan, who identifies herself as a guide from the Spirit World, informs him that no one expected him to perform a good deed. That means there is no place for him in either Heaven or Hell.
This is how Yusuke is offered a chance to come back to life and, after passing a test, become an Underworld Detective. From that point on, Yusuke is involved in a mystery that involves the world of Humans, Demons, and Spirits."
This means that the live-action series will adapt the Spiritual Detective saga, which covers approximately the first 25 episodes of the anime. This obviously leads to Yusuke and Kuwabara meeting Hiei and Kurama.
The revealed actors of Yu Yu Hakusho on Netflix
As mentioned above, the Netflix Japan account has gradually revealed the actors who will bring Urameshi and company to life in this live-action adaptation:
Takumi Kitamura will be Yusuke Urameshi: this actor has previously played Takemichi Hanegaki in the live-action movie based on the manga/anime Tokyo Revengers.
Shuhei Uesugi will be Kazuma Kuwabara: this actor is already known for his roles in series, particularly for River's Edge on Netflix as Kannonzaki.
Kanta Hongo will be Hiei: he is also an actor with a nearly 20-year career in film and series roles. Many will remember him as Ryoma Echizen in the live-action movies of Prince of Tennis.
Jun Shison will be Kurama: this actor is no stranger when it comes to live-action adaptations of manga or anime. He has been seen in the adaptation of Anohana, You're my pet, and The way of the Husband, to name a few.
