Straight from the cow, milk should be better, right?

Straight from the cow, milk should be better, right?

In episode 7 of Season 3 of The Boys, we saw how Homelander, played by Antony Starr, drank freshly milked milk from a bucket. The scene was very particular as the actor himself learned to milk to give more realism to the scene where he succumbs to his milky obsession. However, a question remained in the minds of some viewers: Is it good to drink milk straight from the cow?

While this fluid is intended to strengthen their calves, cow's milk does not seem to disappear from supermarket shelves. Being the source itself, drinking milk straight from the cow does not seem like a bad idea. After all, it does not contain those strange chemicals or preservatives that are added later. Next, we will resolve that doubt.

Is it good to drink milk straight from the cow?

Although the answer may sound obvious, it should be considered that many people drink milk straight from the cow, also known as "raw milk," with the aim of "cleansing their bodies." Celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts in Iron Man) consume it, and she couldn't be wrong, could she?

Unfortunately, the consumption of "raw cow's milk" has no benefit for our body. In fact, this liquid becomes the vehicle for pathogenic microorganisms or bacteria that could complicate our health and well-being. Salmonella, E. coli, Campylobacter, golden staph, Yersinia, Brucella, Coxiella, and Listeria are just a few examples.

It seems unbelievable, but in countries that we can name as "developed," such as the United States, outbreaks of Campylobacter infections have appeared in California due to the consumption of "raw milk." This is the case of Organic Pastures, who choose to ignore scientific studies and continue to consume contaminated milk.

In summary: No, it is not good for anything. Homelander must have a super-stomach and a super-immune system that goes hand in hand.

The process by which milk becomes suitable for our consumption is pasteurization. This consists of increasing its temperature to a point close to its boiling point. There is also sterilization, which consists of boiling it.
