CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Collin Sexton is officially a restricted free agent.
In a move that was considered a formality, the Cleveland Cavaliers extended a qualifying offer to Sexton on Tuesday afternoon, giving the organization matching rights in the event Sexton receives an offer sheet from a rival team. The Cavs had until 5 p.m. Wednesday to extend the qualifying offer. But they sent in the official paperwork one day in advance. The free-agency negotiating period opens on Thursday.
