World Super Flyweight Champion McJoe Arroyo (17-0, 8 KOs) will make his next defense against Filipino Jerwin Ancajas (24-1-1, 16 KOs) on April 16th at the Strike Coliseum in Bacoor.

The Super Flyweight World Champion FIB McJoe Arroyo (17-0, 8 KO) will make his next defense against Filipino Jerwin Ancajas (24-1-1, 16 KO) on April 16th at the Strike Coliseum in Bacoor City, Philippines.

Seann Gibbons said in an interview with boxingscene.com that the reports given by Peter Rivera from the promoter Puerto Rico Best Boxing that the fight was going to be in Puerto Rico or in the United States are false.

"Contrary to the reports we received from Puerto Rico (Peter Rivera), the World Champion in the 115-pound category FIB McJoe Arroyo was going to defend in the United States or in Puerto Rico are not true. The contracts were sent on February 12th by Sampson Boxing for McJoe Arroyo to defend his belt on April 16th in the Philippines against the mandatory challenger Jerwin Ancajas."

"Sampson Boxing won the auction for the fight to be promoted by Manny Pacquiao Promotions. Manny said it's a dream to have one of his boxers in my promotion company fighting in the Philippines for a world title."

Arroyo won that belt by defeating Filipino Arthur Villanueva on July 18, 2015 by technical decision. At that time, the title was vacant.

Ancajas defeated Paul Apolinario by knockout in the first round on November 13, 2015 and thus became the top contender for the FIB and earned the right to challenge for the title.

Both Ancajas and Arroyo have Filipino Mark Anthony Geraldo as a common opponent. Geraldo is the only one who was able to defeat Ancajas, by a majority decision. While the Puerto Rican defeated him by a wide unanimous decision.

Ancajas has a total of 62% of his victories by knockout, while Arroyo only has 47%, which gives the Filipino a great advantage in that aspect. The Filipino also has an advantage in reach, as Arroyo has "65" and Ancajas has "66", there is an advantage but not much.

The key to the result will be which of the two has better physical condition, as if the victory comes by knockout, it will be in the late rounds, the fight is favored to be decided by the judges. Apart from everything else, the fight will be very good and the pressure is on the Puerto Rican, as he will be fighting in hostile territory, defending his championship and his undefeated record.
