Day 2 at the ATP event in Mallorca won’t feature any of the top 4 seeds or any players expected to go deep next week at Wimbledon, but it still features plenty of potentially tight and exciting matches.
ATP Mallorca Day 2 Predictions
Feliciano Lopez vs Tallon Griekspoor
Head-to-head: Griekspoor 1-0 Lopez
Lopez has been looking completely finished this year, after a very long and successful career at ATP tour level, while Griekspoor seems to be slowly establishing himself as an ATP tour regular, with decent results even on grass. However, if there’s an opportunity for Lopez to get some momentum going, it’s playing at home on grass. He should be able to make difficult for Griekspoor but the Turk should prevail in the end.
Prediction: Griekspoor in 2
Roberto Bautista Agut vs Taro Daniel
Head-to-head: Bautista Agut 1-0 Daniel
Outside of one great week in Dubai, Agut has been struggling this season, but he’s one of the few players on tour who seems to play his best tennis on grass. His 2019 Wimbledon semifinal remains his best ever Slam result and he always tends to get good results on the surface, unlike Daniel. This should be smooth sailing for the Spaniard as he looks to pick up form ahead of Wimbledon.p
Prediction: Agut in 2
Ilya Ivashka vs Emil Ruusuvuori
Head-to-head: Ivashka 4-1 Ruusuvuori
Ivashka has won their last four meetings, including two weeks ago at Den Bosch on grass. He seems to have a clear advantage in this matchup and is playing quite well so far this grass season, where he has only lost (albeit twice) to the world #1 (and defending Mallorca champion) Daniil Medvedev.
Prediction: Ivashka in 2
Alejandro Tabilo vs Benjamin Bonzi
Federico Delbonis vs Antoine Bellier
Head-to-head: first meeting
Delbonis might not feel comfortable at all on grass, but he’s facing an opponent who’s been struggling to win matches even at challenger level. This should be a rare victory for Delbonis on this surface.
Prediction: Delbonis in 3
