Run line/Against the spread
The Cubs are 12-13 on the road, which is pretty good for a 23-33 team. They’re also 16-9 on the run line on the road, which is deceiving because most of the time, they’re the underdogs. I’m picking the run line to cash, but I need more than +125 for a sub-.500 road team to win by 2 or more. Instead, let’s go with the CUBS FIRST 9 INNINGS (-108) because I don’t think we’ll need extras to settle this.
Over/Under
This total is pretty dicey, and I don’t want anything to do with it — especially with rain in the forecast, which could end it prematurely. Instead, I’ll present a prop bet option. Cubs C Willson Contreras is 4-for-7 with 2 HR and 1 double lifetime against Lyles. You could take him for OVER 1.5 total bases (-104) on its own. You could also parlay the CUBS’ ML, the CUBS FIRST 9 INNINGS with Contreras OVER 1.5 total bases — and a $10 wager could cash a $56.58 payout.
