Golden State Warriors' Coach Breaks Down Over School Shooting
The coach of the Golden State Warriors almost broke down in tears over the shooting at an elementary school that left 19 children and two teachers dead.
An 18-year-old teenager killed 19 children and two teachers at a school in Texas, in a new tragedy that shocks the United States and triggered the outraged response from Golden State Warriors' coach, Steve Kerr.
"I'm not going to talk about basketball. Any question related to basketball doesn't matter. Since we left the filming, around fourteen children have been killed 400 miles from here, and a teacher. In the past 10 days, we have had elderly and black people killed at a supermarket in Buffalo, we have had Asian congregants killed in southern California, and now we have children killed at school," said Kerr.
"When are we going to do something? I'm tired. I'm so tired of coming up here and offering condolences to devastated families out there. I'm so tired. Forgive me. I'm sorry. I'm tired of moments of silence. Enough is enough", he added.
"We can't become insensitive to this. We can't sit here and just read about this and say, well, 'let's have a moment of silence and play a basketball game'," also stated Steve Kerr, whose father was killed by an Islamic radical group when he served as the president of the American University of Beirut.
"Fifty senators in Washington are holding us hostage. Do you realize that 90 percent of Americans, regardless of their political party, want background checks, universal background checks? We are hostages of 50 senators in Washington who refuse to even bring it to a vote, despite what Americans want. They won't vote on it because they want to hold onto their own power. It's pathetic. I've had enough," concluded Kerr.
