Anyone who has followed sports in Philadelphia over the past five decades is familiar with Ray Didinger, who spent decades covering the Eagles for several newspapers before turning his writing career into one just as successful on the radio/’TV side.
Didinger, 75, announced his retirement on his Sunday morning radio show with Glen Macnow.
“Sunday, May 29th will be my final show,” Didinger told his audience. “I am ready to transition from Ray Didi to grandpop.”

Didinger is a Philadelphia area native, born and raised in Delaware County and graduated from Temple University.
He covered the NFL for both Philadelphia Bulletin and The Philadelphia Daily News for over 25 years. In 1995, his name was added to the writer’s honor roll in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame, according to WIP.

He is a five-time Philadelphia Sportswriter of the Year winner and a three-times winner of The Associated Press award for column writing.
Didinger has been an analyst on Eagles Pregame Live since it debuted in 1998 on Comcast SportsNet, which was rebranded as NBC Sports Phiiladephia in 2017.
In addition, he has his name attached to seven books, including “The Eagles Encyclopedia” that he wrote with Bob Lyons that published in 2005, “One Last Read: The Collected Works of the World’s Slowest Sportswriter” that was published in 2007, and “Finished Business: My Fifty Years of Headlines, Heroes, and Heartaches Hardcover” that was published in 2021.
Didinger was inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall Of Fame in 2005, WIP Radio noted in its retirement story.
