Lanzamiento de los carnavales de la ciudad de Juliaca

The launch of the carnivals in the city of Juliaca will only take place in this locality and not in others like Lima or Arequipa, according to the president of the Federation of Art and Culture (FEDAC) of the province of San Roman, Ramiro Jihuallanca Sonco.

He gave the information at a press conference that was called yesterday, where he was supposed to report on the activities that have been undertaken for this year's carnival festivities in the City of Winds.

The official launch will take place on Wednesday, January 6th, from the esplanade of Cerro Huayanarroque.

It is important to note that the main festival in Juliaca is organized jointly by FEDAC and the commission of the Provincial Municipality of San Roman.

DOUBTS. The president of the municipal commission, Gabriel Riveros Valencia, said that the general budget for this activity is 150,000 soles, although he avoided talking about the details of the expenses.

For example, little is known about the exact budget for all the activities during the carnival, the route of the folk parade, or similar plans.

Riveros said that in the coming days, the exact general amounts and also for each commission will be announced. He only asked for unity and support from the different organizations to carry out these carnivals.

PACHAMAMA. On the other hand, the president of FEDAC stated that this year the festival will be called: "Carnaval de Juliaca Fiesta en Honor a la Pachamama 2016".

He said that his work group will manage a budget of 80,000 soles, which comes from a fund made with the contribution from their sponsors.

Simultaneously, work is being done on a future publication, and information about the development of the festivities until February is being collected.

All this will contribute to presenting a file to the Ministry of Culture, where the declaration of cultural heritage of the nation will be requested.

ORGANIZATION. The presidents of the folkloric groups also attended yesterday's press conference, and they announced that their rehearsals are already in full swing.

The festival runs for seven days in different venues in Juliaca.
