Spanish player from Olympique de Marseille (OM) Álvaro González hit by a fan during a protest
Spanish player from Olympique de Marseille (OM) Álvaro González was hit on Saturday by one of the fans who invaded the training center of the French club to protest against the board, although he was not injured, according to France Info.
The central defender received a blow to the back from the impact of an object thrown by one of the ultras who entered La Commanderie, according to this French broadcasting network.
Sources close to the football player said that although he was not injured, he was "impressed" by the violence of the scene.
Several media outlets explained that the group of fans who broke into the complex, where OM coach André Villas-Boas was with his players, ransacked the building.
They also threw stones at the club's bus and painted it with hostile inscriptions.
According to the Marseille Police Prefecture, there were at least 25 arrests and seven officers were injured when they tried to restore order.
In a Twitter post, the Prefecture stated that the incidents were carried out by 300 fans who violently attacked the police officers protecting the sports complex.
The match that OM was scheduled to play at their stadium against Rennes on Saturday was postponed "to a later date" due to the "incidents" at La Commanderie, announced the Professional Football League (LFP) in a statement. EFE
