The Dutch cyclist Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-Quick Step), victim of a serious fall in the Tour of Poland that caused multiple fractures, is at the team's training camp in Calpe (Alicante) with new spirits and becoming "a professional cyclist again".

Jakobsen, 24 years old, has been training on his bike for several weeks, although he continues his rehabilitation gradually.

He does not yet know the date of his return, but he hopes that from February, after going through the operating room again, he can finalise his plans for the season.

"The process is slow, but I feel more and more like a professional cyclist every day. The whole team has been a great support throughout these months. It is a great motivation. In February, I still have to undergo surgery, and then we will see how it goes. If there is any complication, it may take longer," he said in the team's virtual press conference.

The memories are fading away, but that fall will never be erased from Jakobsen's mind.

"The fall is one of the worst experiences of my life. Being here with the team makes me very happy. This group is like a family," he concluded. (D)
